Banshees and Scorchers Work Together
The Banshees are back for 2008 and ready to begin play as an expansion Tier 1 team. After two seasons of competition at the Tier 3 level (Sixxes) they have recruited enough new players to move back into 11 man play.

The Dallas Diamonds and the American Heart Association have joined forces in an effort to combat heart disease and to help try to find a cure for both heart disease and stroke. 


NWFA INKS DEAL WITH CHARTERS 365
The National Women's Football Association has announced the signing of a partnership deal with Charter 365. Charter 365 offers transportation services and will be providing busses and other vehicles to WFA teams for the 2008 season. The NWFA has more than 40 teams from coast to coast and most teams travel by bus to their away games. This year, with the cost of fuel rising, a partnership like this makes a lot of sense. "We are very pleased to be working with Charter 365. With the increasing costs of gas and travel, we are hoping this new partnership will help our teams save a substantial amount of money on their in season travel," states league CEO, Catherine Masters. Arturo (Art) Gonzalez-Navar of Charter 365 will be in charge of all NWFA transportation needs.

VENTURA BLACK WIDOWS JOIN NWFA!!
Nashville, TN-The National Women's Football Association has awarded a team license in the California coastal town of Ventura. The team will be an exhibition squad this year and officially playing a full schedule in 2009. Ahmad Newton is the owner of the Black Widows. "I wanted to own a women's football team because it seemed new and exciting. I am always looking for something new to try," states Newton. "I checked numerous women's leagues before deciding the NWFA was the Best fit for me and what I am trying to accomplish. I am a first time owner with no prior experience and feel the NWFA has the best plan for what I am trying to accomplish," adds Newton. Tryouts for the Black Widows will be announced soon. JACKSONVILLE DIXIE BLUES JOINS NWFA
Nashville, TN-The NWFA is pleased to announce that the Jacksonville Dixie Blues has signed an agreement to play in the league in 2009. The team is owned by Head Coach Donnie Braddock who has been with the Blues since its inception seven years ago. Braddock is a native and long time resident of Callahan, FL. His wife, Renee, is a veteran linebacker for the Dixie Blues. "We are really looking forward to having this experienced team in our league and know they will be a great addition to us," states league CEO, Catherine Masters. The Dixie Blues will not be in the schedule until 2009 but will be playing a number of exhibition games against existing NWFA teams. NEW ORLEANS BLAZE SCHEDULES GIRL SCOUT NIGHT
Kenner, LA — The New Orleans Blaze women’s tackle football team has teamed up with the Girl Scout Council of Southeast Louisiana to schedule a Girl Scout Night on Saturday, April 19. By offering girls and young women the opportunity to watch a women’s tackle football game, the New Orleans Blaze is encouraging girls to imagine the possibilities of becoming whomever they aspire to be. All Girl Scouts and their families will receive tickets at a special rate and should contact their troop leader or call 504-432-7796 for the registration form. The game is the 2008 home opener for New Orleans at Muss Bertolino Stadium on West Esplanade Avenue in Kenner. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. Fans of all ages are encouraged to attend. Admission is $10 per person for the general public with kids 10 and under getting in free.

WPFL Championship Weekend & All Pro Game a Success San Diego, CA.  
It was the first time San Diego had hosted the nation wide Women's Professional Football League's championship weekend. Not only was this one of the largest turnouts in attendance in league history, player attendance for the second annual All Pro game was at ninety percent.
